I took the opportunity yesterday Now 27, to meet with our teacher trainer and teachers from 3 preschools in a nearby safe area. This week in Haiti has been less turbulent and without the levels of political violence we have seen recently. Some schools opened their doors, but parents are still afraid to send their children to school, since they do not know when the road blocks will go up again. For example, in one preschool where there are normally 60 children, only eight showed up. In the meantime, the Foundation is preparing to improve its activities, and have published a workbook for teachers to better evaluate children and are in the last phases of editing a new a language workbook. The workbook was introduced to the group of teachers yesterday and workbooks were donated to two schools. Other schools will have the opportunity to receive the books when the situation returns to normal, and the roads are passable.
